Marvel Knights 2018 Review

Marvel Knights is turning 20! I thought it was older but, to be fair I also don’t remember much about the original Marvel Knights run either. Thankfully Marvel is re-releasing those classic titles in convenient trades for slowpoke chumps like myself.

With nearly zero previous experience with the OG Knights, saying I’m a bit lost in Marvel Knights 2018 is an understatement. I have no idea what’s going on. This is all fine and good since none of the cast of characters of the 2018 Marvel Knights know what the hell is going on either.

Let me take you on my journey of people knowing nothing.

Set up Matt Murdock crying over Karen Page’s grave, a la, Elektra. He doesn’t know who he is or how he got there.

Enter Frank Castle with a wimpy Bruce Banner in the back of his squad car, equally confused. He’s got a list and he’s checking it twice. He doesn’t know why he has to find these people.

Hey it’s Bullseye and the Kingpin! Yep, you guessed it, they don’t know who anybody is either.

Don’t worry though, Doom is here and he knows exactly what’s going on.

It’s like a comic book version of Talking Heads “Once in a Lifetime” except not as catchy and lyrical.

In all seriousness though, I really enjoyed Marvel Knights 2018. Donny Cates has a really intriguing story, as confusing as it may be. Travel Foreman covers the art and it is on point. It’s sharp and bold, defines each character and puts you right in the action.

I have a feeling we won’t be left in the dark too long, I’m jumping on Marvel Knights 2018 now so I’m not playing catch-up later. I suggest you do the same.
