Synopsis for “The Challenge of Flaming Spear”

Lo-Zar comes to the aid of the Gabubi tribe whose village has been set ablaze by a being called the Flaming Spear. Lo-Zar rescues the elderly chief Wagu from the flames and turns him over to his son Co-Bah. With the fire having died down, Lo-Zar convinces the Gabubi people to rebuild their village promising to defend them from the Flaming Spear.

When a stampede of animals frightened by fire threatens to trample the rebuilt Gabubi village, Lo-Zar is there to divert the animals. Lo-Zar then goes into the jungle to confront the Flaming Spear directly and is shocked to find that he is merely an old man riding atop the lead gorilla in a gorilla army. The Flaming Spear tells Lo-Zar that he trained the gorillas to do their bidding, using their fear of fire to make them throw his flaming spears, the Flaming Spear has made it his ambition to rule the jungles.

Lo-Zar is subdued by the apes and he is tied to a poll to be killed by spear wielding apes. However Lo-Zar convinces the old man to give him a chance by untying one of his hands and giving him a flaming spear to defend himself. The Flaming Spear complies, believing that his army of gorillas will keep him safe from Lo-Zar. The jungle hero then tosses the spear up into the air, when it lands on the ground near the apes, the fire frightens the gorillas who dump their master and flee into the jungle while Lo-Zar frees himself. He then takes the old man to the authorities.
