New Comics 8-1-12

Avengers vs X-Men, Cyclops, Phoenix Five
1 in 50 Variant

Everybody is talking about how Avengers vs X-Men is shaping up to be one of the best stories of the year. This week should feed that fire with a new installment from Jason Arron, the writer for the X-Men and Wolverine. With only 3 issues left and Marvel’s impending reboot (sorry Marvel asked us to call it the New New Marvel Universe) Avengers vs X-Men is sure to play a huge part in Marvel’s bigger plans.
Marvel also has a new book this week Hawkeye by Matt Fraction.  Jonathan Hickman recently did a great job on his short-lived Ultimate Hawkeye run. With new focus on Hawkeye from the Avengers Movie and solo titles Hawkeye is character you should get to know.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Ultimate Collection, Kevin Eastman
Glorious Oversized Edtion

Before Watchmen: Niteowl is in its second month. DC Comics has done a great job breathing new life into the Watchmen characters.

For all you children of the 8o’s the third volume of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is out. IDW has done a fantastic job of collecting the original stories that started the Turtle’s legend. If you have never read Kevin Eastman‘s and Peter Laird‘s creation these Hard Cover ultimate Editions are a great way to start. Makes a great gift for a shell head too!

This Week not only brings us the gift of new comic books, it also brings us together. The local Very Awesome Girls has put together a fund-raiser for a great cause. The Bat Signal of Hope is a Bake and Craft Sale held in several local comic shops and hosted by the Very Awesome Girls. The proceeds go to the Colorado Organization of Victim Assistance (COVA) who are working towards helping the victims of the senseless shooting in Aurora, Colorado. Please come out this Saturday to Cosmic Comics or any of the local participating comic book shops and support this cause. You can also donate directly at Giving First.
