Batman Incorporated #1 Review

Batman Incorporated #1 ReviewBatman Incorporated #1 Review

Part One: Demon Star

“In the eye of the Leviathan”

Something strange is going on in Batman Incorporated, as if the #1 on the cover means nothing to the story. I’m hoping that later issues of this “New 52” will answer a lot of question Batman Incorporated has surfaced.

In Batman Incorporated #1 a God-like enemy known as Leviathan is taking over the underworld in Gotham. The first step of the tall order is to get rid of the “Boy Wonder” Robin by putting a half-billion dollar bounty on his head. An enticing amount of cash that Batman is going to use to his advantage to catch as many low life scum as possible. But Leviathan isn’t as easy to spook or catch, he looks like death and has control over giant flying bats that do his bidding. He or it, is so dangerous in fact, that other heroes have faked their own deaths and joined Batman’s Secret Army in hopes of getting the jump on Leviathan in the coming issues. The ending of this issue came as a complete surprise, but you won’t get any spoilers from me.

Batman Incorporated #1 is a very raw and gritty title. The art style by Chris Burnham is very “Kick-Ass”esque, not afraid to be rough around the edges and sport the popular color of blood. Grant Morrison has the ability to write a compelling story that could compliment any art style, but fits the rough atmosphere of Burnham. This is a good book that will surely make the most avid of Batman fan’s jaws drop. It has an insane cliffhanger that will ensure most readers will want to see this story all the way through.
